After the warm reception of the first edition of MBBFW, it was no surprise that the second one surpassed it in terms of attendance, events, and international impact. This year, the organizers of Bucharest Fashion Week focused on three key pillars: fashion, sustainability, and education. These are the fashion brands and designers that stood out the most—and you’ll definitely be hearing more about them.
Ami Amalia: Warm Perfection from Head to Toe
When someone does something well, it usually doesn’t take long before not only those around them—but the whole world—takes notice. And the knitwear brand Ami Amalia has etched its place in the history of the entire fashion week in the most beautiful way possible.
“In these tense times we’re living in, we wanted to create a collection that wasn’t just about clothing, but also about emotion. Our fall knitwear pieces carry messages of hope, love, and mutual support—values that are essential in every stage of life,” says the brand’s designer.
The collection’s color palette was calm, pastel-toned, with a gentle nod to the rainbow—a symbol of optimism and unity. The silhouettes reflected effortless elegance and the concept of soft power. Each piece was made in Transylvania, carefully knitted in a local factory.
“For the show, we carefully selected models who are not just the faces of the brand, but a part of it. The runway featured actors, artists, athletes, and members of our customer community,” the designer adds.
“For example, the woman and mother who opened the show this year had already walked our runway in October—then pregnant, she symbolized protection and new life. Our athlete, who became an Olympic champion last year, is now a radiant expectant mother. The finale of the show belonged to the beautiful Andrea, a brave cancer fighter who hasn’t lost her spark or strength to inspire, even during chemotherapy. And of course, Omi was there too—our 86-year-old model who has been walking for us since 2021 and has become a symbol of female strength and timeless elegance.
Vogue CS backstage: One of our favorite sweaters from this brand is adorned with uniquely intertwined excerpts from two legendary songs: “Imagine all the people living life in peace” and “What a Wonderful World.” Words we need to hear more and more often these days—they truly warmed our hearts. The entire front row at the show was moved to tears.
