“Suri” Marinière Sweater, Brown&White – SDS

“Suri” Sweater knitted fom 74% suri alpaca, 22% baby alpaca și 4% nylon. Is the smallest % of polymer needed to bind better the long suri alpaca yarn with the core of the yarn from baby alpaca.
N.B. This is a natural yarn from long suri alpaca fiber, and will shed/transfer on fabrics, especially given the decision to not use polyamide or other plastic in high %.

Nevertheless, we decided to make this yarn available to you, as we absolutely love it and is a unique alternative to polyamide& mohair blends, or to the mechanical brushing of the sweaters.

The Suri Alpaca has unique fiber properties that make it more expensive than other alpaca breeds. Suri fiber has a cool, smooth feel, soft as cashmere, warmer than wool, and with the lustre of silk. Alpaca fibers are partially hollow, producing light weight garments with excellent thermal properties.

The second type of alpaca is Suri and makes up less than 10% of the South American alpaca population. Suri fiber is more similar to natural silk and hangs off the body in locks that have a dreadlock appearance.

It also lacks that characteristic itch; rather it feels lovely and soft against your skin. Alpaca is much less likely to cause allergies than sheep’s wool, as it does not contain lanolin, a substance that may irritate some people’s skin.
